UChicago Innovation Fund 2017 Spring Cycle Finals

Who Should Attend: Open to all UChicago and the public
Hosted By: Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation
About: Join the Polsky Center for the final pitches of five teams to the Innovation Fund Advisory Committee, an esteemed group of judges made up of investors, serial entrepreneurs and industry experts. Companies from across the University of Chicago, Argonne National Lab, Fermilab, and the Marine Biology Laboratory will compete for up to $250,000 in proof-of-concept capital. Previous finalists have built exciting technologies across a wide range of industries representative of the core strengths of the University and our partners.

UChicago App Challenge 2017 Finals
When: Thursday, June 1, 2017 | 2:00 - 3:30 p.m.
Where: Charles M. Harper Center, Room 104 (5807 S. Woodlawn Ave., Chicago)
Who Should Attend: All UChicago and open to the public
Hosted by: University of Chicago IT Services in partnership with the Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation
About: See a year's worth of innovation in the App Challenge culminate in a chance to win $10,000 in prizes! The App Challenge is helps translate ides or observation into a mobile app, website or something else. Those participating in the finals are competing against other teams for a chance at a $10,000 prize.

Edward L. Kaplan, '71, New Venture Challenge (NVC) Finals
When: Thursday, June 1, 2017 | 8:30 a.m. – 4:45 p.m.
Where: Charles M. Harper Center, (5807 S. Woodlawn Ave., Chicago)
Who Should Attend: All UChicago and open to the public
Hosted By: Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation
About: Join the Polsky Center for the finals of the 2016-17 Edward L. Kaplan, ’71, New Venture Challenge (NVC). Throughout the day, the NVC finalists will present to a panel of judges comprising of top investors, entrepreneurs, and others. Prizes – which include cash prizes and in-kind services, such as legal and professional consulting services, and office space – have helped past NVC winners like GrubHub, Braintree, and Base CRM grow into successful businesses. The NVC is a top-ranked U.S. accelerator program and this year marks the 21st anniversary of the program. Space will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. An overflow room will be available for anyone who cannot find a seat. Registration online does not guarantee a seat in Room C-25.

Who Should Attend: All UChicago and open to the public
Hosted by: Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and IT Services
About: The Polsky Innovation Showcase is an interactive celebration of entrepreneurship, innovation, and collaboration in the university community. Set up like a “science fair,” entrepreneurs and innovators from across the campus community will demo their start-ups, products and/or technologies at different tables in the Winter Garden. Attendees are invited to take an interactive and in-depth look at the flourishing entrepreneurial ecosystem at the University of Chicago. Winners of all tracks of the NVC (Traditional, Social, Global, and College) as well as the winners of the UChicago App Challenge will be announced during this event.
